[edit] INERGE WIKI

Over the past seven years (2000 - 2007), a concerted effort was made to consolidate and integrate documents, content, databases, spreadsheets and an assortment of tools developed by NextQuarter LLC to complete development of a large knowledgebase. For the knowledgebase to create the greatest value, the Inerge Wiki was developed with vital content/data from the knowledgebase to support research efforts of millions of knowledge workers. Much of the information in the knowledgebase was developed over 20 years conducting unique business research related to information development/management - one reason why the Inerge Wiki is such a unique resource. Historical data is very powerful for building models and creating measures to evaluate past, present and future events/situations and conditions.

[edit] Too Much Information

The emergence of “social networking” and Wiki tools is due in part to current state of communications. Corporate productivity has been dropping for years. There simply is too much information. Corporations have clearly benefited from technology, but information management has become a significant burden. Most knowledge workers are overwhelmed with email, documents and web content. There are too many tools and systems to manage – it has basically become impossible to keep information current. As a result, many people have lost focus on what is really important and are focusing less and less time on what needs to get done.

[edit] Responsiveness

Opportunities come and go quickly. The pace of business has increased so significantly over the past decade that it is difficult for people to keep up. As a result, business is faced with some undaunting challenges. Activities that used to span days can now happen in a matter of minutes. Inability to respond decisively to an event/situation can be disastrous. Time is money. Responsiveness is the difference between risk and reward. Some opportunities present themselves once in a lifetime. Disaster only needs to happen once.

Today, responsiveness has become a key source of competitive advantage. Unfortunately, most organizations are not prepared to act decisively because of the way information is managed. Information that needs to be ready and accessible, in most cases, simply does not exist. This is largely due to the way technology management systems have evolved. The only way to effectively improve responsiveness is by taking a new approach.

[edit] Communicate & Collaborate

The answer is to "information overload" is communication and collaboration. To effectively manage how people communicate and colloborate takes discipline. As a rule - continuely focus on doing the right things. To do so - the right people need to be in the right job with the right resources. Collaborative environments must integrate effectively and information must flow to where it needs to go.

We believe future solutions will evolve in "open" environments where knowledge is semantically structured and cost/perfomance disciplines guide work efforts. Envision environments where public and private communications and collaboration can flourish, and where information can be shared and expanded to support projects and business practices.

[edit] Public Portal

Our objective is to create a web environment based around useful information. An environment where knowledge workers can leverage unique data to enhance learning and collaboration. The intent of the Inerge Wiki is to expand bring forth unique data from NextQuarter’s knowledgebase where individuals can add content and expand upon existing information to improve individual and corporate productivity. Content is focused on promoting “cost/performance” as a discipline and support by many models, methodologies, processes, tools, platforms, etc. To familiarize you with our knowledgebase, we have developed several hierarchies to organize information.

[edit] Data Hierarchy

  • Business Cases

  • Industry (buy)
  • Market (sell)
  • Organization
  • Management

[edit] Private Portal

The Inerge Wiki is also intended to support development of social networks. Our objective is to create an environment where knowledge workers can converge to work on projects and focus on solving complex problems. As the Wiki expands, we envision the creation of private networks of knowledge workers that congregate based on different types of subject matter. Participants would be invited to attend special events where knowledge can be shared, unique tools are applied and valuable information id developed to support complex business/economic problem solving.
